Short version: the game keeps your save in your own browser, there are no accounts, and nothing about you is sent anywhere unless you type a name into the leaderboard yourself.
Homestead uses your browser's local storage — not cookies — to keep a single save file under keys beginning homestead:. That save contains your progress and nothing else: dwelling, gold, job levels, gear, settings, and the name you chose if you posted to the leaderboard.
It never leaves your device unless you send it somewhere. It is not readable by us. Clearing your browser's site data for this domain deletes it permanently, so use the export box in the game's Settings tab if you want a backup.
No account, no email, no password. No analytics, no tracking scripts, and no third-party services running on the page. Nothing that identifies you as a person is requested at any point, and no cookies are set.
Posting a score is entirely optional and only happens when you type a name and press the button. It sends the name you chose, your total gold earned, and your dwelling number. Pick a pseudonym — please don't use your real name. Names posted to the board may be shown to other players, including as in-game party invitations.
